Over-represented Populations Resources

  • Community partners help schools and districts support the learning and development of a range of children often narrowly labeled as “English learners” – newcomers, refugees, immigrants, and children of immigrants – in culturally responsive ways that go far beyond language acquisition. The stories in this issue of VUE illustrate the power of recognizing students’ heritage languages and cultural backgrounds as assets to the communities they live in.
