Julia Hughes has worked in the nonprofit sector for nearly 20 years, beginning with her service as an AmeriCorps member in Commerce City, Colorado. After serving for one year, Julia went on to oversee two AmeriCorps programs in both Dallas and Denver. Her experience spans from program development and volunteer management at the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, to grant writing and development at Urban Peak and most recently Mile High United Way. Under her leadership at Mile High United Way, Julia launched the Women United affinity group, increasing its impact by boosting engagement opportunities and fundraising efforts in partnership with 1600+ women each year.
The mother of a 3rd grader and Kindergartner, Julia is a strong advocate of education and believes in its power to transform lives. She’s thrilled to help tell the story of Colorado Youth for a Change and work on behalf of the 3,000 children and youth served each year.
