“I am enjoying working with students so they can feel more confident in their math capabilities. The best thing so far has been watching students go from hating long division to being excited to do a long division problem.”

Rick, Corps for a Change
Rick, a retiree and former news reporter, helps young moms remove barriers to succeeding in school by driving them to important appointments.
Emma, Corps for a Change
“Once I graduated college, I knew that I wanted to serve a community in need. I knew I couldn’t miss this opportunity.”

Diana, Colorado Reading Corps
“A student shared with me that his classroom teacher had recently assessed him for reading. His assessment score had increased to an advanced level. She was so happy and shocked at the level of improvement. His smile said it all and I could tell that he was proud of himself. He felt great receiving such praise and celebration from both his classroom teacher and from me as his tutor.”

Nick, Colorado Reading Corps
Nick, a former teacher, was looking for an opportunity to help students one-on-one. He told us this story: “Two of my third graders read 100+ words in their weekly assessment for the first time this year. My heart was literally beating fast as they approached the mark knowing they would make it. I was so happy for them and congratulated them..”
